Xylene blender pen life span

FYI, just wanted to let anyone who may be interested in using a blender pen for toner transfers but is concerned about how long they are good for, as you can see by this image, I opened this one and started using it from brand new on January 1st of this year.  Yesterday, it finally died.  I would say I'm a very active carver and have been using this pen regularly.  I gladly had bought two of them and just opened the next.  I shall buy them again.

I use the Chartpack Blender pens that I buy at DeSerres for $5

    1. Ha! I guess I should have mentioned that in the post!

I pretty much solely use Xylene for transferring my images onto the carving material. These blender pens contain the xylene - artists use them to blend colours of certain types of ink their work, hence the name "blender pen". You use it the exact same way you use acetone, but I like that it is super portable and I can do transfers away from home.

I posted about my tranfer technique using the pens here: http://bumblingacrossletterboxes.blogspot.ca/2011/12/spoiler-alert-finally-good-transfer.html
